5 Signs Your Course Idea Is The Right One

Hey my friend 👋

In this edition, you'll learn:

How to choose the right course idea that sells, so you get paid for your expertise while working less. Let’s go!

Type: 🚀 Launches

One course idea can change your life.

I know, because it changed mine.

One of my courses has made over $500,000.

(It’s USD, and I’m Canadian, so multiply it by 1.3)

It let me replace my income from clients.

Clean my calendar.

Take time off without notifying 15 people in advance.

And take 8 months of maternity leave as a self-employed mom.

And it all started with a course idea.

Most people I talk to have many course ideas.

The problem? It’s freaking hard to choose the RIGHT idea.

So I reverse-engineered my approach and put together 5 aspects of a great course idea that sells:

1️⃣ A great course idea is based on your expertise

There’s something you are good at. Something people come to you for.

You don't need to be the best in the world in this. And you don't need to have 99 years of experience in this topic.

But you already know something that will be valuable for other people. That's your expertise.

2️⃣ A great course idea solves a real pain

Avoiding pain is the main motivator for people to buy your course or group program.

That’s why you should find the pain worth solving.

(Spoiler alert: people will not pay for solving any pain, they will only pay for solving the most painful pain they can’t figure out themselves).

3️⃣ A great course idea is not (too) unique

This one is unexpected, huh?

The truth is that you don't want to be the first person to create a course or group program about something. Most likely it will not sell.

The fact that there are other programs in your space already shows that there is demand.

So next time you see your potential competitor, don't get discouraged. It's actually a great sign.

4️⃣ A great course idea is specific

A course for new moms who want to lose the first 20 lb after giving birth will sell much easier than a course for everyone who wants to lose weight.

People should see your course and think, “That's exactly for me!”

5️⃣ A great course idea is for people you understand

You need to deeply understand your audience. Because at some point you WERE your audience. Now you are just a few steps ahead, but you still know what they are feeling and can relate to that.

If you've never worked in the corporate world, it will be hard for you to teach people how to navigate it.

But if you were an employee and then you started your business, you could easily teach how to transition from an employee mindset to being an entrepreneur. You've been there, you've walked the walk.

What’s YOUR idea?

Coming up with course ideas is easy. I bet you can think of at least 5 right now.

But choosing the right one is HARD. Especially if you’re too close to your genius (it’s not your fault, it’s an Expert Paradox at play). That’s why talking to someone else helps to get more clarity.

So here’s my invitation:

Let’s connect live as a group for a 1-hour friendly chat.
